First 2 Months In Taiwan Highlights

This has been a fun and culturally shocking trip so far! It has taken us this long to get used to the hordes of people that live in Taipei, Heated toilet seats, robotic arms operating games at casinos, garbage trucks with mega phones playing classic music, squid on a stick, the games of charades to communicate simple things, and rarely seeing other westerners. But a lot of the younger people in Taiwan have a good understanding of the English language, which has gotten us this far. We have not met a mean spirited person so far (…knock on bamboo).

So far we have been:
10 days in Taipei (Taiwan’s largest city—located in the north)
1 day in Kaohsiung (Taiwan’s 2nd largest city at southern tip)
4 days on little Liou Ciou Island (warm and beautiful)
5 days in Hualian (city on eastern coast—near Taroko gorge)
4 days in Keelung (near Taipei)

you guessed it; duck necks!! this is in the tong hua night market near our apartment. Dont worry, if you had feet, intestines, heart, or ne thing else in mind you can also find it at this market.

this little girl is adorable! her grandma is selling these theme shaped pancakes. we love to eat them for breakfeast--way better than animal crackers :)

Current living situation:

3.5 Weeks living in Taipei----Found a room for rent,

We have had 6 job offers so far, but they either didn't pay enough,

we didn't like the schools, or they were too far away.

I (Megan) have been going to Tamkang University for the last 3

weeks as a full time "cram" Chinese language student. I am currently

looking for ballroom dance students to instruct.

Bert started a job at a Montessori school today was his first day!

I am awaiting the news....He has a good feeling about this job.
